Dinamo, Emmanuel Cole and Rose Pilkington: Tickets now available for November’s Nicer Tuesdays!

In Nicer Tuesdays’ penultimate event of 2024, we dive into innovative typography, documentary photography and wild, technicolour motion design.

Why not stay creatively cosy this bonfire night? At November’s Nicer Tuesdays – the penultimate event of 2024 – we’re incredibly excited to be hosting three remarkable speakers: Dinamo, Emmanuel Cole and Rose Pilkington. From the mundanity and chaos of Londoners to Glastonbury-starring, electrifying 3D visuals for Romy, via pioneering typographic design, there is undoubtedly a breadth of creative expression to get stuck into.

The event will take place on 5 November at EartH, Hackney, with doors opening at 6pm. As this is an 18+ event, please bring ID with you to the venue. If you are in need of disability access, please make yourself known to a member of the EartH team on the night or email [email protected] so we can arrange assistance. Read more about November’s speakers below.

Dinamo’s range of typefaces is so broad, you have no clue where it might pop up next. In the identity for a creative coding exhibition, for an architecture association’s comms, a pizzeria, or even Charli XCX’s most recent album. This diversity is what has made Dinamo the respected and widely loved studio that it is today. But, not only this, it’s also full of humour – often presenting its new design with inventive mock-ups and throwback teaser trailers – as well as producing everything every designer of good taste wants in their house, or on their head. They’ll be sitting down with It’s Nice That to discuss Dinamo so far, and just how they’ve become the cool older sibling of typefaces.

London-based street photographer Emmanuel Cole, having recently graced the It’s Nice That front page, is set to take to the Nicer Tuesdays stage to share the reality of his creative journey. To boot, he’ll discuss his debut book, Bearing Witness, an engrossing curated collection of Emmanuel’s photography that captures the raw and vivid pulse of London’s street life, revealing neglected stories that are left untold. In his talk, he’ll dive into the process behind the book, exploring how he brings authenticity to his scenes, creating visual narratives that reflect both the beauty and challenges of urban life.

The digital artist Rose Pilkington specialises in experimental 3D illustration and motion. Through this medium, her work serves as a tribute to nature, drawing inspiration from the boundless possibilities within the natural world and its colours, textures and patterns. In parallel, Rose also likes to explore the psychological impact of colour, how it determines our environment and affects human perception. With clients as diverse as Frieze, Instagram, Romy and the BFI, at November‘s Nicer Tuesdays she’ll be walking us through her inspirations, as well as the technical process that goes into these varied, awe-inspiring projects.
