Friday Mixtape: graphic designer Brodie Kaman's songs to get sweaty to

Date
7 September 2018

The work of Australian-born and now Berlin-based graphic designer Brodie Kaman has consistently bowled us over here at It’s Nice That. With posters galore in his portfolio, bands regularly flock to Brodie’s e-mail and ask for him to interpret their sound, tour schedule or album release into something that jumps off screen, page or cardboard 12".

This week, however, Brodie’s the one picking the tracks as the guest of our Friday Mixtape!

It’s Nice That: Why have you picked these songs, what do they remind you of or make you feel?

Brodie Kaman: This summer has been red hot, and I’ve been sweating loads. These songs make me want to sweat more.

INT: When or where should this mixtape be listened to?

BK: Listen to this mixtape through a little speaker on the train.

INT: Are there certain albums you listen to during the different parts of your creative process?

BK: I normally have a handful of albums and mixes on rotation which I add and subtract to depending on my mood.

INT: What records did you listen to when you were a teenager?

BK: I listened to loads of hardcore punk and some grunge. Two records that I thrashed were Sonic Youth’s Dirty and Adolescents by Adolescents.

INT: If a feature film about your life was to be made, what song would be on the trailer?

BK: Don Henley – Dirty Laundry
